Next in our Interview series: Nataisha T Hill. This is a new-to-us author, so make sure to leave questions and comments below!
Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. Can you begin by introducing yourself, please?
I began to pursue a career in writing with the Associated Content and other endeavors while I was in college. I’ve been writing short stories and poetry since the tender age of four. My first novel “Partially Broken Never Destroyed” was released March 2013.
What made you decide to start writing?
I wanted a way to express my ideas and thoughts to the world. One of my interest has always been acting and I couldn’t think of a better way to not only create characters, but have complete control over the entire story.
How do you find your inspiration or where do you get your story ideas?
There are women that I personally know who have or have known someone to go through similar situations such as Kayla, the main character. There also are women out in the world who are actually in the process of going through one or more of these situations, so it was part of the objective to let them know they’re not alone and all situations can be overcame.
Do you have a character that has been your favorite to write about?
All of my characters are favorites. I think all my characters have unique qualities, both good and bad. I find them totally relatable to people in general.
Is there another genre that you would like to try?
I would like to tap into mystery, ghost, and paranormal genres.
What do you do when you are not writing?
When I am not writing, I am working a nine to five and taking care of my beautiful daughters.
If you could have supernatural powers, what would they be and why?
I think I would fly or be invisible. I guess this is probably self-explanatory.
If you could pick the brain of one author, who would you like to have a discussion with & why?
I would pick Omar Tyree, Stephen King, or Carl Weber. I would like to know was there a particular incident that made them start writing and where did they get their inspiration.
What is your next project?
I am working on part IV of a series, a children’s book, and I am also working on an unrelated book that is in the works for 2017.
Describe your writing space
I don’t have anywhere in particular where I write. Whenever an idea comes to mind, I make a note on my cell phone and save it when I can. Once I get to a place of silence, I elaborate on it.
Do you write to music? Do you have a go-to list or does it vary?
I do write music and poetry. I don’t have anything published in these areas, but one day I dream of having a top billboard hit.
Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. Is there anything else you would like to say to readers or fellow authors?
Never give up. Always have faith and believe that you can achieve anything you ask for.
